OUR MISSION

The mission of the Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation is to share the love of Christ by connecting two culturally diverse communities, empowering their youth through mentorship and leadership, and building dynamic futures.

You might notice that our logo is the “WC” imitating the hand gesture used to represent Andrew’s home town of West Chester. Inside the curve of the “C” is a star with a cross inscribed, symbolizing the light of Christ that we hope to bring to the City of Chester and the youth we serve. Read the Faith Statement the Foundation vows to uphold.

The picture above was taken just the day before Andrew fell. He was in San Francisco, CA on a family vacation. Alcatraz is in the background and Andrew was making the typical “WC” hand gesture, reminding us how much he loved his home town.

The Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation was established in August, 2010, just a few weeks after Andrew went to live in Heaven. The Foundation is a non profit that works to bring together two culturally different communities, Chester and West Chester, PA in an effort to further Andrew’s passion to see opportunities become available to the youth of Chester.

The Foundation intentionally provides Chester children with opportunities to thrive in a vast array of programs and events while also working to provide Chester County high school students with opportunities to volunteer and lead through these events and programs.

“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person? Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.” 1 John 3:16-18
