Warrior Guides Community Service Day

This past Saturday, April 29, the Warrior Guides held their annual Community Service Day! This year the group was spread out over the city of Chester at 7 different locations working on 14 different community service projects. Each group was lead by an adult volunteer and consisted of multiple pairs of Braves and Guides. The projects included: an Appreciation Luncheon for Chester Police, Fire and EMTS; landscaping at the fire station, washing cars and landscaping at the Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired; landscaping at Madison Street Park; setting tables and packing lunches at CityTeam Ministries; cleaning and landscaping at the Crozer Library; landscaping and creating an urban fence design at Family Management Center (shelter); landscaping and building raised beds at Wesley House (shelter); and turning over soil, planting herbs and vegetables and caring for the farm at Ruth Bennett Community Farm in Chester. It was a beautiful day for the group to get to work together to help beautify their community! After 4 hours of hard work the group returned back to CCCS where they were treated to a wonderful lunch of hoagies, chips, home made chocolate chip cookies, and lots, and lots of water after all their hard work! After lunch everyone went outside to enjoy the beautiful 80 degree weather and played various games from street soccer to basketball. It was a wonderful event and we are extremely grateful for all the volunteers who really stepped up as well as to our generous sponsors Fulton Bank and Hoey Investments who made this day possible with their generous sponsorship – Fulton Bank even sent 15 employees who acted at Lead Volunteers on the various projects!
