Open Bowl 3/10/12

On Saturday, March 10th the Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation will be taking a group of 2nd through 5th graders from Chester to the Palace Bowling and Entertainment Center in Downingtown for an Open Bowl afternoon.  The event is the senior project for Henderson High School seniors Alyssa and Amanda Spence.

Their idea is to match up 120 Chester elementary school children with 120 HHS students for the afternoon.  The kids will be put together on lanes with three Chester children and three HHS students per lane.  The children will be bowling with other little boys and girls that are in their same grade and the high school students will be their Big Buddies for the day.

The pairs will get a chance to enjoy each other’s company, eat pizza and cupcakes together and even dance to the great music supplied by a DJ!  We look forward to the event as it will expose the younger children from Chester to the Foundation and will also give the opportunity to many HHS students who have not yet volunteered with the Foundation this year.

Any Chester student interested in attending can get a permission slip by clicking on the link below.  Once it is filled out, please call Jane Pendell at (610) 755-2850 to find out how to turn it in for registration.  Forms are due by February 24, 2012.

All Chester children will be meeting in the parking lot of Widener Partnership Charter School, located at 1450 Edgmont Avenue on Saturday, March 10th at 1:45pm.  They will be transported by bus, along with chaperones provided by the Andrew L. Hicks, Jr. Foundation to The Palace Bowling and Entertainment Center, located at 977 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA.  The children will stay together until 5:15pm when the Chester children will load buses along with the chaperones and will arrive at Widener Partnership Charter School by 6:00pm, where they should be picked up promptly.

All HHS students interested in volunteering for this event should register with either Alyssa or Amanda Spence.  The event will cost $10 for each HHS student.
